Instead, I'll just post a bunch of photos of Mt. Rainier, since the team is called the Rainiers. The locals simply call it "The Mountain" and it remains impressive. I find it interesting how often you forget that it's there, then all of a sudden you see it in the distance, and it again draws awe for its size and majestic beauty.
It caught me by surprise, waiting for a light to turn red.
And above an apartment complex.
And from a small public park in downtown Tacoma near the water.
And even from my view in the press box.
Okay, that last photo wasn't as impressive. You had to be there.
Tacoma/Seattle in June is amazing. I can see how/why people get seduced by the incredible weather. Plus, you're so far North, the sunsets are much later. We played a game that started at 7:06 pm and ended up going 11 innings. That was needed for the postgame fireworks. If the game was over in nine innings, they would have needed to wait another 20 minutes until it was dark enough to shoot off the fireworks.
We also played a game that started at 5:05 pm, ended in just two hours and 20 minutes. Even after I finished the postgame show, packed up, drove back to the hotel, and walked down to the water, the sun still had not completely set. The beauty of the Commencement Bay was quite dramatic and I was able to snap a few more cool shots.
Thanks for the beauty Tacoma. See ya next year.
